Should You Repair Your Own Computer?

If you only read one paragraph of this post then this is the one it needs to be. Never let anyone take control of your computer remotely unless you know them personally. If someone calls you on the phone and says they work with Microsoft or any other major company it is a scam. If a web page pops up asking you to call a phone number it is a scam. Do not fall victim to these crooks.
People bring their computers in all the time with all these cleaners which are supposed to speed-up, fix, and maintain their computers. Some people pay $100 -$200 trying to fix their own computers. They want a one click fix when it takes professionals 6+ hours and years of experience. Am I saying you can’t do it? NO.
If you have the time, patience, are willing to go through the trial and error process, are willing to do the hours of research, and backup all your data in case something goes wrong, by all means yes, you can do it. But you probably have better things to spend that much time and effort on.
You can have the biggest toolbox in the world but if you do not know how to use the tools, the tools are of little to no use and sometimes do more damage than good.
I have yet to see a clean-up tool that removes all the malware, spam, popups, and viruses. If there is such a tool, there is no guarantee it will work.
The absolute best option is to backup everything and reinstall a fresh copy of the OS (Operating System). Not just a factory restore which puts all the factory added bloatware back on your computer, but a clean OS with no bloatware!
We also test the drive to make sure it is stable and has no bad blocks and remove all the dust from the inside, which is especially important on laptops because they tend to overheat.
This takes time and effort because all the OS updates need to be downloaded and installed. Along with Java, Adobe Reader, Flash and a good anti-virus. Not to mention making sure all the drivers to make all the components in the computer are installed and working correctly.
Save yourself the time and frustration and let us do it right. You will be glad you did! Look forward to serving you soon.
